Review of Amcrest IPM-721S HDSeries WiFi Camera System

By Gordon B. Rose

Amcrest IPM-721S review imageAmcrest is one of the best home security companies in the business when it comes to systems that are easy to install. Amcrest creates simple instructions that guide you every step of the way. Cameras from this company let you have full control over your surveillance needs.

Amcrest’s HD Series 720P wireless IP surveillance camera system has a little bit of everything packed into one small camera. You get connectivity, the ability to communicate and monitoring via your smartphone so you can see what’s going on in real-time inside your home. This systems is top-notch if you need something simple and ready-to-use.

Easy Setup

Once you get this surveillance system out of the box, you literally plug in the camera and then scan the QR code on the bottom of the unit with your smartphone. Once your phone recognizes the code, begin watching HD video within seconds of unpacking the camera.

You can set up the connectivity to your wireless internet router later. Download the Amcrest app to accept the QR code properly and you’re up and running.

Tilt and Scan

This camera allows you to tilt and scan across a room. It already has an 85-degree field of vision over whatever you see. That can cover half a room when sitting on a table, or you can see an entire room if the camera sits in an upper corner close to the ceiling.

The pan and tilt gives you the ability to see 360 degrees. The camera fluidly and effortlessly moves up and down to give you the best possible view of the scene. The zoom feature brings the action closer to your field of vision.

Two-Way Communication

Amcrest’s system includes two-way communication technology. Each camera has a microphone and speaker embedded within it. You can hear what’s going on within the room, and you can talk to whoever’s listening.

This makes the camera perfect as a baby monitor or as a way you can check in on your pets when you’re away from home. You can communicate with your baby or pet through your smartphone or computer, depending on which device you have in front of you.

Night Vision

The night vision sensor reaches up to 32 feet away from the camera. This comes in handy when you want to keep an eye on young children as they sleep at night. Set a camera up in a garage, mud room or pet area to watch any puppies or kittens that may need your attention during evening hours.

The 12 infrared LEDs give you a view of the room without generating any light themselves. The night vision happens without adding any light to the area.

HD Quality

View images in HD quality at 720p resolution. Watch the screen on your computer in 1280 by 720 resolution, which is a widescreen view that takes in much of a room all at once.

You get a full-color image at 30 frames per second. You don’t need to squint, adjust your computer settings or strain your eyes to see what’s happening on your screen.

Final verdict

Amcrest’s indoor surveillance system is a great tool to keep an eye on things when you’re not home. Definitely invest in the cloud-based storage system in case someone tampers with the microSD card or if the the camera breaks. Homeowners might use this camera as a simple way to monitor young children, entrances to the home and pets who get stressed when no one’s home. Business owners can monitor customers and employees for security breaches or burglaries.

This system is very easy to install and very easy to use. You can add more cameras later if you decide you need more than one. The price is also affordable compared to the quality you get.
