TENVIS JPT3815W-HD Wireless Surveillance IP/Network Security Camera Review

By Gordon B. Rose

TENVIS has its JPT3815W-HD wireless surveillance security camera for indoor use only. It doubles as a baby monitor thanks to is ability to expand its view with pan and tilt controls.

Two-way audio lets you speak to whoever’s in the room. This works for party guests, pets or young children. You can download an app to accomplish all of this remotely.

All you need to do is set up the camera on a tabletop close to a power outlet. After a few installation steps, you’re ready to keep an eye on most of the room. If you choose the right corner or wall, you could have a near-complete view of what’s going on. Night vision infrared sensors expand the view to complete darkness or nearly dark conditions.

Easy Installation

Once you unpack the camera from its box, plug it into an outlet. Then plug the network cable into your Wi-Fi router to configure the wireless settings. After that, move the camera wherever you want to in the house just as long as it picks up the wireless connection and remains plugged in.

Download the app to your smartphone and start viewing and controlling the camera.

Pan and Tilt

The pan-and-tilt function gives you nearly limitless options when it comes to your view of a room. Pan the camera a whopping 340 degrees from side to side. Tilt up or down a total of 90 degrees.

With the range of viewfinder, you get a view of the room just about any way you want. This model does really well when it comes to versatility during the day and at night.

Two-Way Audio

A microphone picks up any audio within the room, whether you talk to a pet or a person. A built-in speaker lets you communicate with whoever is in the room. Reassure your baby with the press of a button as you keep an eye on your little one through your smartphone.

If you’re at work, tell your dog or cat to behave and get off the couch. You can even listen for house guests when someone knocks on the front door. If someone’s in the garage or workshop and you need to ask them to come inside, you can do that as well. The possibilities and applications of this video camera are endless.

Security

The camera has password protection when it connects to your home’s Wi-Fi. Press and hold the button on the bottom of the unit to reset the password to one of your own choosing.

It’s very hard for someone to break into the camera’s recording without knowing your password credentials. Make sure you choose a strong password with letters, numbers and symbols.

Final verdict:

TENVIS has a great camera for indoor use due to its wide-range of capabilities. Monitor any situation with video and audio that senses anything that happens within a room.

The two-way audio lets you speak to someone, even from your phone. When you’re at home, check on the situation at your computer. The computer connectivity works with a Windows or Macintosh operating system.

The camera easily fits onto a table top, dresser, night stand or bookshelf. As long as you have a flat surface near a power source, this unit is ready to go. You might have to configure a computer to store memory from this camera. There aren’t any firm directions for memory storage with this camera.
